Glossary of terms under new and existing laws, with annotations

Terminology used by Courts and Trustees relies heavily upon Code requirements. Most often, even though common usage may seem apparent, the meaning of words and phrases depends on applicable law, and as such, become highly specific terms of art. This distinction proves confusing to attorneys who do not specialize in consumer debt relief, and moreover, easily causes pro se debtors. Even Code requirements may be out of date because of recent judicial decisions. We hope the following glossary is a helpful starting point for understanding common legalese.
